The BookBuild tool has been pre-configured to comply with the Airbus CDIM to streamline the production of the output for customers and reduces the complexity of the publication process.
The application accepts S1000D Data modules that have been created using the A350 Business Rules and automatically creates a compliant Component Maintenance Publication as a PDF file. The output is configured by an A350 compliant Publication Module to determine the structure of the document and the Data Modules to be used. All relevant Tables of Contents and other ‘management’ pages are automatically generated and included in the publication.
To complement the A350 BookBuild output, the Mekon Eclipse S1000D for FrameMaker application has been extended to work with the Airbus A350 CDIM. The application can now reference a Business Rules Exchange file (BREX) supplied with the package. Using this A350 BREX file the application constrains the author’s choice of elements in certain contexts. This prevents an author from inserting elements where they are not allowed by Airbus.
The publication module used for specifying the publication content can also be created with the Eclipse application.
As with the S1000D solution, the R4i Common Source Database (CSDB) from can be used as a secure repository for A350 Data Modules. The Mekon A350 tools will work seamlessly with the R4i CSDB and additional tools and output stylesheets are being developed for the R4i CSDB to support the A350 requirements. Mekon will soon be able to offer additional tools and options to support the creation, management and publishing of A350 content.
