Principles of S1000D (half a day)

To introduce the concept of S1000D to the delegate. The subjects covered are:

  • Data Modules
  • Data Module Identification
  • Outline of Data Module Code and other management data
  • Data Module Contents
  • Identification and Status
  • Content
  • References
  • General Content – To introduce the different types of Data Module.

Authoring data Modules

A more in depth introduction to the different types of Data Modules, their content, purpose and structure. Structures covered are:

  • Descriptive Data Module
  • Procedural Data Module
  • IPD Data Module
  • Crew Data Module
  • Fault Data Module
  • Schedule Data Module
  • Wiring Data and Wiring Fields Data Modules
  • Process Data Module.

Application Specific Functionality for Authors (half a day)

This section of the course provides the delegate with information about the functionality which has been added to the standard product by the Eclipse S1000D for Epic application.

The functions covered are:

  • Show/Hide IDStatus and Table of Contents
  • Setting the Publication Module Code
  • Use of Templates
  • Bulding the Reference Table
  • Cross Referencing
  • Internal Cross References
  • References to other Data Modules
  • References to ‘Hard Copy’ Technical Publications
  • Using approved items for Procedural Data Modules
  • Approved Supplies

Administration Configuration (Optional half day)

(Only for those involved in the supervision of projects using the Eclipse S1000D for Epic application.) Some areas of the functionality are configurable. This section of the course provides outline information on how this configuration can be carried out. The items specifically covered are:

  • Cross Referencing
  • Element Literals (e.g. Generated text for naming and numbering of elements within the Data Module)
  • What gets displayed automatically from attributes for various elements.

Supplied Database Maintenance

(Only for those involved in the supervision of projects using the Eclipse S1000D for Epic application.).

This part of the course covers the maintenance (updating etc) associated with the Database supplied with the Eclipse S1000D for Epic application. The subjects covered are:

  • Importing new Data Module references
  • Modifying existing material
  • Inserting new approved spares, supplies and equipment
  • Inserting new illustrations.
