Next available training dates 3-4 October.
Mekon’s STE course is a practical introduction for those who will use Simplified Technical English (formerly AECMA Simplified English). The course introduces the philosophy of Simplified Technical English, explains the underlying grammatical principles and gives delegates opportunities to use Simplified Technical English in practical exercises. These exercises can be based on your company’s documentation.
Why Simplified Technical English?
Simplified Technical English is a controlled language used in the aerospace industry since 1986. The European & American Aerospace Industry Associations devised the language to improve the readability of maintenance documentation.
Documents in STE are:
- Easier to read because the language is less complex
- Unambiguous because words have a single and consistent meaning
- Consistent, especially where there are a number of authors
- Easier to translate
- Easier to use in different formats because the language is concise and precise
Benefits of STE training
This course will give you the skills to produce easier to read documentation, making it easier to translate. The language is concise and precise making it easier to use in different formats
“It was clear from the offset that the instructor really knew the subject and was able to deal with all questions posed by the audience. The instructor’s ability to make the course relative to the attendees own STE needs and use examples consisting of business situations that the attendee may face, was to be applauded. The exercises using material from the participants’ work environment were extremely beneficial and really solidified what was taught during the course” – William Haydock, Senior Technical Author, CDS Defence Support.
